We
are a different sort of company in San Antonio. We don’t believe in
roasting huge stockpiles of coffees in anticipation of someone’s
order. We roast regularly throughout the week for freshness' sake because coffee
is a food and we know it tastes better fresh. It’s something we call
‘Freshroast.’ Freshroast means your coffee never roasted far in advance (think hours, not days), and always guaranteed to please. Available
in heat sealed, 12 oz. bags with degassing valves. Yes, we offer wholesale services to select clients. Call 512.264.4302 or email
Lots of great coffees newly arrived at The Brown Coffee Company's World HQ. HERE'S WHAT WE HAVE ON TAP RIGHT NOW . . .
NEW ...Espresso Two: Jacinto. Named to reflect the spirit of independence and freedom found in the birth of the Republic of Texas--San Jacinto is the site of the decisive surprise attack by Sam Houston's Texians as they overwhelmed Mexico's General Santa Ana. Descriptors such as "overwhelming," "surprise" and "independence" overlay onto this one of a kind espresso that is meant to turn convention on its ear. Bold claims aside, we invite you to taste for yourself the confluence of a sweet-citric honeyed characteristic when combined with a snappy crisp acidity. The combination gives the taste sensations a workout and a new appreciation for what espresso can be. Jacinto will not live forever. No espresso that rides free and cries for independence can. So act now to experience the direction we think espresso is going. 12 oz. bag $15. GET IT NOW.
Kenya Kichwa, Tembo Cooperative We love saying that "This coffee is back!" What a treat you are in for, and thank you for waiting so patiently. What we have here is a midwinter crop that not only sings, it gives us a full-throated explosion of citrus and honey. While it's slightly unusual to get such a complete, prototypical Kenya this time of year, it's definitely not unheard of, and we are glad we were able to secure this explosive, eye-opening lot for those of you who have been begging us to bring it back and for those of you who have yet to experience what a powerhouse high-quality Kenya coffees can be. The word "explosive" has already shown up in this review twice so we won't mention it again. But you've been put on notice. This Kenya is the real deal. At this price, this coffee is a steal. 12 oz. bag $12 GET IT NOW.
Organic Ethiopia Gedeo, Konga Cooperative [Fair-Trade Certified] Think
for a moment how long it takes for a quantity of coffee to go from the
tree to the mill to the export house, across an ocean, to an import
house, then to a wholesaler, roaster and finally into your home.
Imagine the loss of freshness that can occur with elongated supply
chains. Now imagine how fresh coffee can be when it is vacuum sealed
in 25 lb bags before it departs its home country. Imagine how clean
and fresh your coffee will be. Now open your eyes and see this coffee
being exactly that. Expect a distinct strawberry-banana-cream
experience with a hint of Yirgacheffe's (Gedeo is a Yirgacheffee
sub-region) famed floral notes. One day, every cooperative and farm
will vacuum seal plastic bags for freshness across the globe. We're
bringing it to you today. We love bringing you coffees that represent
"the way coffee is headed." Here it is. The future in your cup. 12 oz bag $14. TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK.
Rwanda Gkongoro Nyarusiza This is a place holder for our soon-here next microlot in this amazing run of great Rwandan micro minis. It's been a good year so far for Rwandas. We're trying to keep it rolling like that here at Brown...for you. 12 oz bag $13 (Please...limit one per customer) EMAIL US IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PURCHASING THIS COFFEE .
Guatemala Huehuetenango, Finca Vista Hermosa, El Eden Lot We
are never lacking in enthusiasm for this coffee. It has been our
flagship coffee for two years and still amazes me when I taste it. The
El Eden lot is the same lot we had last year but shows a different
face. Peculiar rain patterns last growing season slowed the
development of the beans, creating a livelier sweetness and a more
pronounced floral/jasmine aroma and fragrance. That characteristically
assertive acidity is still in effect, but it's tempered by a
tangerine-like presence and a bit more body than last year. What a
year our friends have had at Finca Vista Hermosa! PLEASE NOTE: We just received our final shipment of this lot until next summer. 12 oz bag $12 GET IT NOW
Papua New Guinea Tribal Garden AA We are always pleased when we find great new coffees. This one almost literally found us and are we ever glad it did. This coffee is grown in the remote Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea and comes to us direct from the smallholders who live on this highland plateau. It is delicate and sweet and fused with the spiced aromatics of a wild meadow after a spring rain shower. Heady and aromatic. 12 oz bag $12 GET IT NOW.
El Salvador La Libertad, Finca Santa Elena [Pulped Natural] It's worth noting that the current lots of this fine coffee we have are not prepped in the traditional washed process so typical throughout Central America. Instead, we are currently offering a small lot of pulped natural beans for you to try. Pulped natural means instead of hulling the beans and washing away all the fruit around the seeds before drying, the beans are instead hulled from their casings and carefully monitored as they are dried with the fruit--pulp, if you will--intact around the beans. The result is a creamier, more substantial taste experience than the typical "brilliant and boring" washed Centrals with slightly more pronounced mid tones and a more defined mellowness. 12 oz bag $12 GET IT NOW.

Brown Espresso One: Cottonwood. It has enjoyed only miniscule official status or billing on our website, has only ever been known
by the super duper mega hyper top secret code names "Espresso One" and/or "Cottonwood" and yet is quickly
becoming one of our best sellers. This one has emerged organically by
good old direct marketing and word of mouth. Because we have received
so many requests in the last few months for an espresso blend for home
and professional users alike, we have emerged from our uber scientific
tasting lab with what we consider to be a delightful but solid
expression of a classic espresso. It is creamy and well-built, sweetly
sturdy and richly simple and is an all around great espresso to
experience. Novice baristas will appreciate how forgiving it is to
work with and how easily it produces pleasing results. Seasoned
conniosseurs will love its breadth of complexity and range of
expression. Whatever your experience level on the espresso skill
spectrum check out our new Espresso One: Cottonwood. And if a
home espresso machine is not considered a required appliance on your
kitchen counter, Espresso One: Cottonwood also does double duty as a
beautifully built drip coffee. 12 oz bag $12 GET IT NOW.
